A Cambodian Spring
Naomi
Recommended by Naomi:
A Cambodian Spring documents the resilience and challenges of an impoverished community as they fight for their homes in a battle against land-grabbing, forced evictions and a corrupt government.
The film portrays the courage among residents, as they take action into their own hands actively participating in land-rights protests. What struck me about the film was the director's poignant portrayal of how unity amongst activists can deteriorate due to internal conflicts fueled by political tactics of division and control. The documentary is a heart-breaking account of the injustices endured by poor individuals in the name of so-called ‘economic growth’.
